BIRTH
Obong (Barr.) Godswill Obot
Akpabio was born 44 years ago (19th December,
1962), to Obot Akpabio and Madam Lucy Obot Akpabio (Nee Inyang
Etoh) of the Nkuku Udo Akpabio family of Ukana Ikot Ntuen,
Essien Udim Local Government Area.
EDUCATION
He obtained a Distinction in
the First School Leaving Certificate Examination at Methodist
Primary School, Ukana before proceedings to Federal Government
College, Port Harcourt for his West African Certificate
Ordinary and Advance Levels. Obong Akpabio attended the
University of Calabar, Calabar in Cross River State where he
obtained a Degree in Law before proceeding to the Nigerian Law
School, Lagos.

He is devout Christian imbued with true greatness wrapped in
simplicity and a strong, unshakable faith in the will of God.
VISION
An Akwa Ibom State with an empowered populace and a
private-sector driven economy, acting as a catalyst to Nigeria’s
industrial revolution.
MISSION
To steer the Akwa Ibom ship from where His Excellency, Arc. (Obong)
Victor Attah anchors, to its final destination where our
indigenes burst forth from the shackles of tribalism,
subservience, pettiness, blackmail, character assassination,
inferiority complex, poverty, to a fulfilled, peaceful, virile
and united Akwa Ibom State.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Obong (Barr.) Obot Akpabio started as a teacher in 1982 at Afaha
Secondary School, Essien Udim. He later became an Associate
Partner, Paul Usoro and Company, Broad Street, Lagos. He was
Director, Corporate Affairs/Legal Services, EMIS Telecoms (1995
– 2002).
During the Attah administration, he was appointed Commissioner
for Petroleum and Natural Resources (2002 – 2003). He was
transferred to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy
Affairs as a Commissioner (2003-2006). His dedication to duty
and faithfulness earned him a new job as a Commissioner
in-charge of the Lands and Housing Ministry in 2006.
POLITICAL CAREER
From his youthful days, Obong Akpabio had lived a life worthy of
emulation. This earned him admiration among his contemporaries
hence his appointments even in his schools days.

was General Senior Prefect at the Federal Government College,
Port Harcourt.

National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and Personal Assistant to
Senator Nsima Akpabio.

Honourable Speaker of the Parliament, Student
Union Government, University of Calabar.
